There are many kinds of transformers, including dry-type transformer, oil immersed transformer, isolation transformer, control transformer, three-phase transformer and so on. But we all don't know the difference between control transformer and isolation transformer. Today, I will summarize for you.
The isolation transformer is used to avoid touching the electrified body at the same time by chance, and the control transformer is no different from the ordinary transformer, but it is mostly used for the power supply of machine tool control electrical appliances or local lighting and indicator lights. The two types of transformers are distinguished as follows:
1、 The purpose of isolation transformer and control transformer is different
The control transformer is used as the power supply of the electrical control circuit, in order to meet the voltage requirements of different electrical components.
Isolation transformer one is to separate and transmit the voltage signals with different voltages or requirements at both ends of the transformer, so that the different voltages at both ends of the transformer will not interfere or affect each other, such as the drive coil of some thyristor or IGBT circuit. Second, it needs different impedance matching, such as some audio power amplifiers. Third, for personal safety, such as walking lamp transformer.
2、 The functions of isolation transformer and control transformer are different
The control transformer is used to provide power for the control system in the operation of electrical equipment.
Isolation transformer is to prevent the power equipment from harmonic interference. In fact, it is a filter with poor performance. Generally, the output voltage of control transformer is 6.3V, 12V, 24V, 36V, 50V, 110V, 127V, etc. in order to reduce the cost, some control transformers only output a single low voltage, or three to five voltages. Generally speaking, the transformation ratio of isolation transformer is 1:1, which has two types of transformer functions They are different, so they are not universal.
3、 There is also a connection between them
For example, in an imported traveling crane electrical circuit, all relays and contactors are 220 V, and the power input is 3-phase 4-wire. Originally, the zero line could be directly used to form a control circuit. However, the crane has a control handle, so the electrical designers use an isolation transformer. The secondary circuit is used as the power supply of the electrical control circuit. Since the secondary circuit has no grounding terminal, even if people touch one point of the 220 V control voltage, they will not get electric shock. Therefore, the transformer is not only a control transformer, but also an isolation transformer.
